A Bird's Eye View

Maryville Aged Care Hostel, in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, has established the country's first bird watchers' club in an aged care facility, in conjunction with the Bird Observers Club of Australia.

What is a deeming fund?

Good Shepherd Aged Services has available a Deeming Fund which can potentially enable part pensioners and/or self-funded retirees to reduce income-tested fees, increase pension entitlements and assist the organisation.

Money you place with Good Shepherd Aged Services Deeming Exemption Fund has been granted full exemption from income deeming. Fund money is placed in secure investments and all income from the fund is used for capital works and upgrading of the facility. Your money is completely safe and available to you on two weeks notice. To discuss your options further or gain more information, please do not hesitate to contact the Administration Office on 9419 3933.

This fund is a unique way for pensioners to reduce their income-tested fees and increase their pension entitlement. The fund is available to receive monies by residents and/or family and friends enabling them to exclude the income on such deposits from the income means test applied by Centrelink to aged pension benefits.

If you are a relative or friend of a resident and you would like to assist Good Shepherd Aged Services, you can deposit funds in the Deeming Fund.

For enquiries regarding the deeming fund, to discuss your options further or gain more information, please do not hesitate to contact Resident Administration
