A Bird's Eye View

Maryville Aged Care Hostel, in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, has established the country's first bird watchers' club in an aged care facility, in conjunction with the Bird Observers Club of Australia.

What happens in an emergency?

Our nursing home and hostels are generally capable of coping with temporary short-term illness.  However, should a resident require additional or prolonged intensive care it may be necessary to move to a facility/hospital that provides a more appropriate level of care.  This may mean transfer to a hospital or to a nursing home in the case of a hostel resident. The decision to move to a more appropriate level of care is made in consultation with the resident, their family and / or representative, treating Medical Practitioner and the Aged Care Assessment Team.

Situations often arise where we need to get in touch with the designated contact person, so it is vital that Resident Information is completed in full and kept up-to-date.
