What sort of social and leisure activities are provided?

At Good Shepherd Aged Services the activities team have developed a diverse programme of organised activities. The programme has evolved from continual evaluation consultation from residents, relatives, staff and volunteers.

The programme is monitored and adapted and new activities are provided as the activities team keep abreast of current trends.

The objectives of the programme are to provide all residents with a happy, safe environment. Where each resident's physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs are fully supported. Individual needs for privacy, independence, companionship, choice and decision-making are respected and recognised.

Abbotsford complex has a specially adapted mini bus which is able to lift residents in wheelchairs into and out of the bus. Maryville Hostel has a mini-bus which has been specifically fitted to the needs of the elderly.

Residents and their families are encouraged to make suggestions about activities that they would like to see incorporated into the programme.

Family members are encouraged to play an active role in supporting staff to meet individual needs and are welcome to join activities whenever visiting.

The activities program at Good Shepherd Aged Services has been nationally recognised for its contribution to our resident's Health and Wellness Program.
